Brief History of Tashkent Medical Academy

The roots of Tashkent Medical Academy trace back to the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at Turkestan State University in 1919. Over the years, it evolved into Tashkent State Medical Institute in 1931, making significant strides in medical education.

In 1990, two medical institutes emerged from the Tashmi foundation, leading to the establishment of the First and Second Tashkent State Medical Institutes. Finally, in 2005, under the visionary decree of President I.A. Karimova, Tashkent Medical Academy was formed, unifying the two institutes.

Language of Instructions:

Many of the medical subjects are taught in the English medium at Tashkent Medical Academy. However, some clinical lectures from 3rd year will be in the Uzbek or Russian medium compulsorily. This is common all over Uzbekistan and other Russian countries as per the instructions given by their respective Government. That is why the Uzbek/Russian language is also taught in the Universities right from 1st year till 3rd year. It helps the students to communicate with the patients in their hospital classes. Mostly all exams are taken in the English language and some in the Uzbek/Russian at Tashkent Medical Academy.
